I'm not sure how I feel about Tom Cruise singing but I am looking forward to the movie. Great songs, great cast, retro fashion - sounds like a success to me

I have to wonder why they picked Tom Cruise for this movie, but I am hoping that he is very good in it because I am really looking forward to seeing this movie!

Well talk about taking you back to an age of great music, sex, drugs and rock'n'roll, and big hair. Rock of Ages does a good job of making you feel as if you're in L.A. back in 1987. With an all-star cast of well known and talented actors/singers/dancers (pole dancing scene was amazing), the casting department could have done a better job finding actual singers. Tom Cruise as Stacee Jaxx is big on the acting and surprisingly OK at the singing. I would have preferred they cast an actual rocker from the 80's who could play the part well. Someone like Sebastian Bach who has a cameo in the movie (see if you can spot him). However I must commend Cruise on being almost 50 years old and still being able to pull of the look and vibe of a 30 something rock star. Tom is in fine shape and is quite a sight.

Alec Baldwin and Russell Brandt are an odd but hilarious duo who run the Bourbon Club on the strip. They play well off of each other and I found them to be a great comedy relief in between songs.

Julianne Hough is a very talented lady, however besides her big hair good looks, I found her singing to be too high pitched to pull off a convincing performance. Her acting was good but they could have cast her part much better.

My fave had to be Hey Man the monkey!!! What a riot. He is an unlikely addition to the cast but certainly a great source of slapstick comedy.

Without giving the story away to those of you who have not seen the movie, if your expecting a great rock story with all the debauchery the 80's had to give with a happy ending...you will find it here. Certainly not the best rock movie ever made, but it will certainly hold its own in the collection of every headbanger who lived it for themselves.

I recommend this movie and give it a 3.5/5
